DMW CARD

WHY

To review performances of the previous day, identify and deal with hard points coming from the field. TOP 30 boost teams, improve team spirit and permit better communication flow. Clarifying the daily priorities and guaranty all field issues are treated.

HOW

  1. Stand up meeting on factory billboards.

  2. Do daily at fixed time on a dedicated communication area, accessible & visible to all.

  3. Participation of the entire plant management team

  4. Focus on the performance of the last day production: Human (safety - absenteeism), Customers (Quality - Delivery), Production (Quantity - pph), Logistics, Maintenance, Indus, CI,... Use a minimum of indicators that give a complete view of daily performance.

  5. Each manager gives figures about key points of its departement, and a particular the problems that have not been solved within its scope (the problem is complex, or requires the intervention of others).

  6. All indicators have a target and the reference to previous results in order to show the trend toward continuous improvement. The daily knowledgeable figures allow to focus on big gaps so that immediate action has been taken.

  7. A simple red/green visual management should be implemented, to indicate if the performance is consistent with the target or not.

  8. Challenge the TOP 30 routine to keep it efficiency and connected to the priorities of the organization.

WHAT

We usually name it "TOP 30" meeting because of the duration (30' maximum). This is the last step of a down-top communication process that began on the same day in each services (cascading system of daily stand up meeting, top 5, top 10, top 30...). TOP 30 main objective is to unlock critical points. It is not a problem solving meeting but a problem raising one. The meeting is driven by the plant manager (or substitute in case a absence). Each participant is responsible to relay important information to his own team, after the meeting.
